Private Medical Check Up (Introduction)

What is "Private Medical Check Up"?

"Ningen Dock" translated means "Private Medical Check Up". It is a program designed to maintain your health. Ningen Dock was originally established in Japan to provide comprehensive health examinations to detect and treat potential health risks at an early stage. It is said that the first time we did it systematically in Japan was on July 12, 1954 at the National Tokyo Daiichi Hospital (now the National Center for Global Health and Medicine). Next, comprehensive medical examinations were established at hospitals and facilities nationwide, such as St. Luke's International Hospital.
At the Preventive Medicine Center in SKGH, we offer half-day and full-day Ningen Dock programs for your specific health needs.
The Standard examination package for a half-day Ningen Dock includes: a physical examination, audibility test, urine examination, chest x-ray, gastroendoscopy, abdominal ultrasonography, electrocardiogram, and other diagnostic tests. Full-day Comprehensive Ningen Dock package includes the Standard package plus a full range of screening tests: MRI brain scan, 320 Multi-Slice heart and lung CT scan and a colonoscopy.
The Preventive Medicine Center began PET/CT cancer screening in 2021. It is characterized by being able to examine the whole body without pain at once. Cancers of organs that were not covered by conventional screening may also be discovered. However, depending on the nature and site of the cancer, it may be difficult to see even with PET/CT examination. In order to compensate for this and take all possible precautions, it is recommended to have a PET/CT examination in conjunction with Ningen Dock. (* Due to the time required, PET / CT examination and Ningen Dock will be conducted on a separate day.)

The Preventive Medicine Center staff member will escort you to each procedure and assist you throughout the day.
National Health Insurance does not cover Ningen Dock.

How should I schedule my appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling or visiting the Preventive Medicine Center. If you would like to have an interpreter, please contact with the International Medical Support Center in SKGH.
If you have made an appointment, you will be given a detailed instruction sheet on what to expect from Ningen Dock along with a stool collection kit.
If you make your appointment on the phone, we will send you the instruction sheet with the collection kit. Do not forget to bring the instruction sheet and collection kit with you when you come in for your Ningen Dock check-up.

Hours of Operation 9:00 - 17:00 (except Sundays and Japanese National Holidays)

※ If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please inform the Preventive Medicine Center or the International Medical Support Center as soon as possible.
This is necessary because a slot can be used by another person in the event of your cancellation or postponement.
We will have your temperature checked when you visit the Preventive Medicine Center. According to the standards of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, those who have pneumonia symptoms (cough, etc.) of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher are required to suspect coronavirus infection, but our hospital will judge whether it is possible to receive a separate consultation on the day for those with a fever of 37.0 degrees Celsius or higher. Please note that depending on the situation, we may refuse to receive medical examinations, including those accompanying you.
In addition, please note that if a person is suspected of being infected with coronavirus on the day of consultation, all examinations in the Preventive Medicine Center may be suspended.
Since the infection route of the new coronavirus is mainly droplet infection and contact infection, we ask for your cooperation in wearing a mask and disinfecting hands in advance.
At our Preventive Medicine Center, we will consider the safety and security of the examinee first and will take the above measures until the situation is over. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
